Why does real end-to-end digitisation stall? Because data isn’t allowed to flow automatically.

The OZG covered 575 services. But without connecting registers, the Once-Only principle stays theory. Instead of data being fed digitally and automatically into a system, or shared with other systems, data often still has to be transferred by hand.

Register modernisation is therefore the precondition for real efficiency gains. And that’s really what digitising government is about.

Only once residents’ registers, civil status data, business registers and vehicle registers are technically interoperable and legally usable, can administration check proofs automatically, reuse data, and partially automate applications.
