Today I can report that we’ve achieved our AI-development #breakthrough. What happened? A piece of staff-scheduling software hadn’t been actively developed for quite a while. Based on experience, developing a needed, up-to-date replacement would typically cost around 50,000 euros. In this case, it was possible to outsource that development work to #AI and deliver the desired end product within just four days, through an #iterative approach. That likely cut the pure #developmentcosts by around 15%, and shortened the #developmenttime even more noticeably.

So we’re finally at the point where we can use #AI in a #controlled way exactly where it promises #real #value: in software development. But to be clear: the #steering of the AI and the #review of the artefacts it produced were done in this project by a #recognised #ITexpert with #years of professional experience from our team. Without that expertise, such an efficient and effective result — one that meets our own high #qualitystandards — wouldn’t have been possible.

So what does this mean for #governmentdigitisation, which matters so much to us? Does this make the big IT service providers for states and municipalities obsolete? No, quite the opposite: their core business — hosting, security, data storage, and so on — still plays a central role. But we can now deliver the needed code noticeably #faster and #cheaper than it’s currently produced through platforms and sometimes lengthy development — #time and #money that can then already be used for the next measure!
