These points are currently the biggest obstacles for companies:

1️⃣ Media breaks destroy automation.

Even the most digitised, most automated company can’t do anything if the authority demands printed-out PDFs, only allows follow-up questions by email, and requires data to be entered again and again.

2️⃣ Permits slow down innovation and speed

For digital business models, speed is often everything. But many companies complain that applications and approval procedures are so long and unpredictable that they hold back innovation.

3️⃣ Federal differences increase cost and complexity

Companies active not just in one region, but in several states or nationwide, keep running into situations where ten authorities have ten different requirements that have to be fulfilled in ten different ways.

4️⃣ Uncertainty holds back AI adoption

Legal uncertainty, proof and documentation requirements, and strict data protection create risk and hold back the introduction of digital and AI solutions.

How could it be done better?

• Unified standards across all federal states.
• As few systems as possible storing and exchanging data.
• Legal certainty.
• Fast procedures.
